Hi, I’m Lisa — currently in the final stretch of my 50s, staring down the big 6‑0 like it’s a surprise pop quiz nobody warned me about. My original plan for this era of life was simple: retire, work part‑time, travel, sip some bourbon on a beach with my cigar, and mind my business.

But life said, “Girl… no.”

Turns out my ONLY son, who can’t remember where his keys are, what day it is, or that I told him something 12 times, somehow remembered one thing: If he stayed in school, I would help pay for it.

And now here we are — he’s on track to graduate with his Master’s in May 2027, and I’m still working full‑time, drinking my Pepsi zero like it’s a coping mechanism, and pretending this was all part of the plan.

I also have a daughter… and listen, that’s a whole other story for another day. Just know she exists, she’s mine, and she keeps life interesting.

I come from a big, loud, loving family — four sisters, plus a few extras I claim because why not? If you see me mention “the sisters,” just know it could be any combination of the originals or the honorary ones. We’re basically a sitcom. We have a group chat and if you wanna know something just head to the chat!

And then there’s Ace — the love of my life. He’s an American Bully who lives up to his name, guards me like I’m the last slice of cheesecake, and has the personality of a retired bouncer who still thinks he’s on duty. Overprotective? Yes. Adorable? Also yes. A menace? Absolutely. But he’s my baby.

Why This Blog Exists

I recently had foot surgery, and let me tell you — recovery is a journey. A story. A saga. Some days I feel like a warrior. Other days I feel like a toddler learning to walk again. Most days I’m somewhere in between, trying to figure out how to get from the chair in the living room to rolling fast on my knee scooter to get to the bathroom without making it a whole production.

So I decided to start this blog, wegonnagowiththestory, to share the real, funny, frustrating, and sometimes ridiculous parts of healing, aging, parenting grown children, juggling work, and navigating life with a dog who thinks he’s my bodyguard.

If you’re here, welcome to the chaos. Welcome to the humor. Welcome to the honesty. And welcome to the story — because at this point, that’s all we can do… go with it.
