Before I start giving daily updates, I need to catch everybody up on how we even got here. So let’s rewind to surgery morning.
I’m up. I’m dressed. I’m ready. Boot in hand. Purse by the door. I’m calling for Avery like any mother who has somewhere to be.
Now, Avery came home for the weekend supposedly to assist his mother after surgery. Personally, I think this had more to do with getting Ace acclimated… but we’re gonna go with the “I came home to help my mama” story. 😂
Meanwhile, I’m standing there fully dressed.
Where is Avery?
KNOCKED. OUT. Sleep like he worked a double shift at the steel mill. 😴
Somewhere between the first and last time I called his name, my voice must’ve dropped an octave because suddenly I hear:
“I’M WAITING ON YOU!”
Sir. Explain to me how YOU are waiting on ME when I’m standing here ready to go and YOU are still horizontal.
But again… we gonna go with the story. 😂
He finally gets up, takes Ace outside, and starts the car.
Now Ace sees people moving around early in the morning and immediately thinks:
Oh, we going somewhere! 🐶😂
Sorry, buddy. Not this trip.
I come outside with my boot because they told me I had to bring it, and off we go.
Now I don’t know what was worse — the ride there or the interrogation DURING the ride.
Wait a minute… I’m the mother, right?! 🤔😂
Why am I being questioned like I’m a suspect on the way to surgery? Sir, I’m already nervous. I don’t need a cross‑examination.
Eventually we pull up to the Bone & Joint Institute. Avery puts the car in park and says:
“I’ll wait right here for Dezi.”
THANK GOD Dezi was meeting us there! 🙌🏽
Because if this dude had to go inside with me after questioning me the entire ride, my blood pressure would’ve been sky‑high before they even checked me in.
And y’all…
We haven’t even made it through the front door yet.
To be continued… 👣❤️
